1. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is a self-help book that I really like. It helps you to get your life in order, be proactive, and think about others."What a great explanation of human values, ethics, and overall how to live a succesfully fufilled life," says Drake White, a country music artist/songwriter. There will be an article about the 7 Habits coming soon!
2. Do Hard Things by Alex & Brett Harris
Do Hard Things helps teens (and people of other ages) to get motivated to do the hard things in their life. It includes real life stories of teenagers doing hard things around the world, and addresses the 4 kinds of hard: things that are outside your comfort zone, things that go beyond what is expected or required, things that are too big to accomplish alone, things that don’t earn an immediate payoff, and things that challenge the cultural norm.
3. I Will Always Write Back
I Will Always Write Back tells the story of Caitlin and Martin, who live half a world away from each other, connecting through a pen pal project and dealing with (very different) challenges in their daily lives. Martin struggles with enough money to go to school, whereas Caitlin deals with bad friends and tough decisions over relationships. The way that this true story is told makes it seem like a fiction book, and it was really engaging the whole way through.
4. It's Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired, and Get Going!
This book is written more for upper elementary school and middle school kids, whereas the other books on this list are written more for teens, but it is still a very good book. This book covers a lot of the major problems that our world faces today, including poverty, a lack of women's rights, child marriage, global warming, and animal extinction. It tells you how people around the world are combating these issues and how you can also help fight these problems.
