Get Outside this Summer!

A lot of countries will just be opening up this summer (hopefully), but not everything will probably be open. You might not have as many places to go that you would normally go to be outside or exercise, like parks, gyms, basketball courts, etc. Today, I'm giving you some simple ways that you can get outside this summer even while things are still opening up and there might still be social distancing rules. We should all try to get outside as much as possible this summer!

  • Journal or read a book on a porch/roof/balcony. If you're a person that doesn't like exercising as much, and you're more of a bookworm, you can still get outside while doing what you love.

  • Have a picnic in a field. If you can't get out or there's no fields near you, have one in your yard or on the roof.

  • Go on a walk in the evening/morning. These times of day are often the coolest, and a good way to exercise but not have to deal with the afternoon heat. Make sure to keep your distance from other people!

  • Dance in the rain. I love this one, and it shows that you don't have to be in the sun just to be outside (though make sure to get some sun time too!). Grab some of your siblings, put on some old clothes, and go dance in the rain!

  • Watch a sunset or sunrise. Creation is so beautiful, and we rarely take time to just sit and watch it. Put down your distractions, and just watch a sunrise or sunset.

  • Ride a bike. I know some of y'all might not have bikes, but for those who do, use them! Bikes are great to use in neighborhoods and compounds. Some of my friends who haven't been able to leave their apartment compounds in weeks, have been able to bike within them.

  • Take pictures outside! Spend 30 minutes outside, taking pictures of nature. There are so many beautiful plants and animals out there. If you live in a mega-city, there is still nature out there! It'll just make the hunt extra hard.

  • Sit in a hammock. I know that this is limited to people who have a hammock, but if you have one, use it! You can read in it, listen to music or a podcast, and do lots of other things.
