Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing one simple way to study Bible passages. I believe that it is important to think about what you are reading in the Bible and what you can learn from it instead of just reading a passage and moving on with your day. The Bible shows us who we are in God and who He is as our creator and father. This is a super simple way to study Bible passages with a few questions to ask yourself.
This is the Sword method, and it is a commonly used tool to study the Bible. It asks six questions, typically in this order:
- What does this passage say about God?
- What does this passage say about man?
- Is there a sin to avoid?
- Is there a promise to trust?
- Is there a command to obey?
- Is there an example to follow?
These last two questions are very helpful for finding an application from what you are reading. Not all the questions may apply in every passage, but this is a good basic Bible study tool. You can write down the questions and answers or just think about them. If you don't have questions to lead your personal Bible study, these are some great ones to start with.
