Kindness- How can we help?

Hey guys,

Whilst I was thinking about what to write about I thought about a topic that I have seen a lot about during covid. Kindness: helping people with COVID-19, providing food for people who can't work, and treating ill patients. Now, you all might not be doing these big things that might be globally recognized and appreciated but we can all do our own things in these hard times. Enjoy...

First I wanted to look at what the Bible says about kindness,

“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”

Luke 6:31

“But show me unfailing kindness like the Lord’s kindness as long as I live, so that I may not be killed.”

1 Samuel 20:14

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

Colossians 3:12

"But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great."

Luke 6:35

Those are a few verses that I like that are about kindness.

So, what can we do that will impact someone else?

We shouldn't just be kind to get recognition or loads of praise, we should do it out of love and maybe our own gratitude towards what a person has done. Being kind and nobody recognising it was you is great character building because some people, if they don't get praised, will give up, whereas other people keep going because they know that someone has received that kindness and it has made a small impact at the least.

So here are a few things that you can do to be kind every day,

  1. Give your grandparents a call- They love you a lot and they want to hear from you even if you don't have anything interesting to say. They will listen. Also, spend as much time talking to them as possible, you don't know how long they have left. (I found this out the hard way)

  2. Email a friend- Yes, I said email, not message. I know messaging them is easier, but it will mean so much more to them than a text when they receive a carefully written email. Write about how much you appreciate them, memories with them and other things that have been on your mind.

3. Make a rock painting- I have done this one before. So basically, you paint something on a rock and then write an encouraging message on the back. Then leave it somewhere for someone to find it eg. in a park, or in a tree. When someone finds it they can pick it up and take it home hopefully given them some encouragement.

4. Make dinner- Your mum or dad would appreciate it if you took some of the stress off of their shoulders and cooked dinner for them. It doesn't have to fancy, it could just be mac and cheese or something simple if you'd like.

That's all that I have for you today,

I hope that you get some inspiration for some kind things to do today.

Have a great day,

Christina
