To start off, Merry Christmas everyone! Have a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends (safely). Today Aliana and I would like to take some time to talk about the true meaning of Christmas to us as Christians and how that impacts how we celebrate Christmas.
To me, Christmas is not truly about presents or amazing food or decorating the house, but about the birth of baby Jesus. Jesus is our Savior and Lord, and Christmas is a celebration of how he was born to us. Luke 2:1-21 in the Bible tells the story of Christ Jesus's birth; he was born in a manger in a stable because there was no room in the inns in the town Mary and Joseph traveled to for a census. An angel appeared to shepherds in a field nearby, giving glory to God, and the shepherds went to find baby Jesus. They saw him and praised God, telling everyone about the baby who was born to the virgin Mary, and everyone they told was amazed. Many years later, when this baby was grown up, he died a death for our sins that he didn't have to because he was perfect; he did it anyway because of his love for us. On the third day after his death, he was raised from the grave and then went to live with God in heaven.
As I believe that Jesus came as a baby on Earth and died and rose again, Christmas is a wonderful time of joy for me. I am full of joy because Christmas is a celebration that our Savior was born. I remember how Jesus came as a baby in a manger- the lowliest. I am so grateful for my salvation and that Jesus came to earth to save us from eternal punishment for our sins. What Christmas truly means to me is that I am saved from eternal death and can celebrate Jesus's birth.

As a Christian, Christmas has so much meaning to me. Even though giving gifts is a very special thing we do during this season, it is not the true meaning. Christ Jesus, our Savior, was born to save us all from our sin and we celebrate his birth on Christmas day. God gave us the gift of eternal life and a chance for redemption when Jesus was born. That is why we celebrate by giving. The best and most special gift we could ever get is the unconditional love that Christ has shown us. He died for us. He saved us. He cleansed our hearts.
The other day for my family’s advent reading, we were talking about why we thought the Creator of the world would be born in a stable. One of the reasons we talked about is to show that He came to save ALL people from ALL nations and also to show that His kingdom is different from all other kingdoms. Another reason that we thought about is so that He could relate with all society. I just thought that it was cool to think through. What do you think some reasons were?
The true reason for Christmas to me is remembering the gift of grace and redemption Christ has given us all. I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and remember that Jesus loves you.
